After starting Standard Ovation over 8 months ago with my two business partners Amy Crocker & Charlotte Raybourn, I had a moment of realization last night that made me stop for a minute. I never realized it until then, but the goals I have in my personal life - happen to be the identical goals of our company. It was such a revelation to absorb that our company's purpose is to help others the same way I want to help myself. How have I not realized this before? I have no idea... but it made me have an overwhelming appreciation of our business and the purpose it has to society. I'd like to share this with you - both my personal goals in life, and the purpose of our company.
First, I'd like to describe a bit more of our company: Standard Ovation manages a select roster of business & motivational speakers. We have selected our speakers to partner with because of what they talk & teach to others, and how they directly impact the lives of their audiences. It gives us great satisfaction to match what they speak about to the correct audience so lives become better, leaders become stronger, sales people become more profitable, employees become more productive, and so on. Every single time one of our speakers has stepped off the stage after they delivered their keynote - the feedback we receive has been over-the-top. EVERY single time. It's truly remarkable. They are truly making a difference and growing the lives of others.
So, as I come full circle, I'd like to share with you my personal goals as well as the goals of our company. The reason I am choosing to share this with you is for the chance we may have similar, or even identical goals. If that is the case, and you'd like to know more on how our speakers can help you reach one of these goals in particular, let us know. We are here to help you and enrich your lives & to better your company. We proudly manage six of the greatest speakers and they would love to help. Check them out: www.thestandardovation.com, feel free to call me and I can also answer your questions: 913.498.9775 or email me: sarah@thestandardovation.com.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Terry Hawkins' Book Picked Up by Berrett-Koehler Publishing!!!
We are THRILLED to announce that this week San Francisco-based Berrett-Koehler picked up one of the books authored by our very own Ms. Terry Hawkins! The publication giant acquired Terry's inspirational book, "Why Wait to Be Great? It's Either Now or Too Late!," originally released by the self-publishing group iUniverse. Congratulations, Terry!!!

Just like the team here at Standard Ovation, the folks at Berrett-Koehler apparently know a good thing when they see it. BK President Steve Piersanti was quoted saying, "As a speaker, Terry Hawkins is absolutely spectacular. She mesmerizes and inspires crowds on the business lecture circuit, and has brilliantly taken that energy, passion and wisdom and put it into a wonderful book.” “‘Why Wait to Be Great’ fits perfectly within Berrett-Koehler’s mission, and we are thrilled to have her.” So are we!
Terry hopes with this new partnership she will be able to help even more people overcome adversity in their lives. “It’s been my life’s work to help people achieve their goals and experience success both personally and professionally,” said Terry. "With the help of Barrett-Koehler and iUniverse, the methods and teachings I’ve used in my own life to overcome great adversity throughout my career, are now available to everyone in ‘Why Wait to Be Great,’ and I hope it encourages others to deal with their pain and follow their dreams just as I have with my own.”
And in this awesome spirit of philanthropy, Terry has been educating businesses and individuals for nearly 25 years. She founded the professional training company, People in Progress Global, in 1989 and has since helped more than 300,000 people realize their goals and improve their lives. She also speaks at events all over the world inspiring people to make needed life changes and giving them specific tools to actually do it. Before relocating to the USA, Terry was the most sought-after, award-winning female speaker in Australia. "Why Wait to Be Great?” is one of many books Terry has written or co-writen, including her very popular “Stickman Rules” children’s series, “Secrets of Inspiring Women Exposed,” and “The Power of More than One.”

Standard Ovation's friend Jeff Civillico is launching an incredible charitable organization on October 28, 2012. Win-Win Entertainment will bring together many talented performers from the Las Vegas strip for a spectacular launch event. Sam Richter - loved by all audiences!
"Sam [Richter] was great, I have seen him three times now and each time I pick up some new gems. He is a captivating speaker, very energetic and has a powerful message. In our recent conference we had a mix of different folks with different backgrounds – white collar and blue collar, welders, engineers, sales, admin, etc. I was expecting the sales folks to be impressed and enjoy Sam's presentation. I was pleasantly surprised that I also got a lot of positive feedback about Sam from our manufacturing personnel. I would highly recommend him as a keynote speaker!" - Jason, Bastian Automation Engineering | October 11, 2012

pportunity to face the core issues at the heart of our pain. "Doing pain well" is not about avoiding it, going around it, going under it or hoping it will go away. It is about trusting that you have all the resources you need to walk through your pain - right into the eye of it - breathing deeply into it - and then allowing yourself to come out the other side. Your pain is one of your greatest guides. Let's not numb it through blame, accusation, medication, anger, pity, or drama. If you are feeling pain, you are communicating with your soul. Pay attention to the wisdom that will flow! Go STICKMAN!"

Kit Grant's Latest Newsletter: Keeping in Touch (K.I.T.), Oct.4, 2012 — Opportunity Abundance
“The reason so many people never get anywhere in life is because when opportunity knocks, they are out in the backyard looking for four-leaf clovers.” - Walter P Chrysler
Kit Grant's latest newsletter:
There is NO shortage of opportunities. Many come every day when we are either too busy or too lazy to recognize them. You just need to have your eyes open and your ears on “listen-mode” to recognize them and then be willing to take action. Don’t worry if you miss a few — many come around again in a slightly different form. We get so tied up “doing” what we do that we close off new ways to enhance and/or expand what we do. I still read a lot, listen to audio books and attend seminars. Is this because I have “extra” time? NO!! But you only stop learning when you decide to do that. Networking, being inquisitive and being busy living rather than being busy dying are all ways for you to discover just how much there is out there for you to explore. I am not getting any younger so I have to keep moving a bit faster every day just to sometimes keep up. Hang out with positive people … the negaholics will drag you down to their level with their messages of doom and gloom.
NEAT STUFF:
I just came across a really neat website if you are ever in the mood for travel. Check it out yourself at www.travelhawk.net. There are close to 3 million photos from hotels around the world in addition to virtually unlimited pages of information about other travel stuff. It’s the best place I have ever looked for information when you are in the planning stages for your next big vacation or just a quick getaway.
NEW DEMO:
My new speaker demo DVD is now ready — a few people requested a copy two weeks ago and should have it in the next few days. If you (or someone you know) is planning a meeting, conference or convention and is looking for a speaker, please pass along a copy of my DVD. Send me an e-mail to kit@kitgrant.com with your physical mailing address and I’ll send you a copy.
MINI-RANT:
Just when you thought you had seen and heard everything, now the striking NHLPA hockey players have taken their case to the Alberta Labour Relations Board for a ruling on whether the NHL lockout violates their union rights. Are you kidding me? A bunch of millionaires making a mockery of the rights union members have fought so hard to obtain is disgusting. I don’t recall seeing any NHL players out picketing the last time their union brothers with real jobs were on strike. The fact these millionaires are even in a so-called union is a slap in the face to the thousands of real union members who pay money to watch these clowns. Spending taxpayer money to have the Labour Relations Board listen to their bleating is the real disgrace.
